Positive traits

Polish Lowland Sheepdog is very confident. Although she is classified as a shepherd dog at the IFF, in Poland the dog is used for protection.

The main advantages of the animal:

  1. Friendliness towards the owner. At home this is not a dog, but a sofa cushion. Very affectionate, gentle and sensitive, she will be happy to take part in family gatherings. She will sit near the owner and look at him adoringly.
  2. Easy to learn. Breed Polish Shepherd grabs everything on the fly. But to deal with it is necessary on the positive. She does not suffer violence against herself.
  3. Wary of strangers. This is a great guard. A fly will not fly by, not that an outsider has passed.
  4. Vigorous. For lovers of outdoor activities, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog is very welcome. She will not let her master sit still and be bored; she will walk with him until victorious.

Negative qualities

The dog is good to everyone, but too incredulous. However, now in more detail about its shortcomings:

  1. He does not like children. Of course, she tolerates them if necessary. But he does not feel a particularly reverent attitude. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog (photo posted in the article) will not fulfill the duties of a four-legged nanny.
  2. On the spirit does not tolerate their own kind. When meeting other dogs, conflict is inevitable. He will use his teeth without hesitation. And the first will provoke the battle.
  3. Does not tolerate cats. What these cute animals did not please the Polish lowland shepherd, only she knows. But the fact remains. Tear into small pieces.
  4. Needs laborious hair care.
  5. This dog is in dire need of moral and physical stress. The dog is working, and when it does not get the proper load, it starts to go crazy. In the literal sense of the word. Chews a leash and various objects, becomes irritable. May include defensive behavior.

Care

We mentioned that the Polish shepherd dog ( dogs of different ages are shown in the photo ) needs laborious care. What is the main difficulty?

In combing out, of course. The pet has amazing coat. But if you do not look after her, then the dog will turn into a dirty, dumped "washcloth". You need to comb your pet three to five times a week. During molting - daily.

Frequent washing is not required. Enough two to three times a year. Paws and abdomen must be wiped with a wet rag after a walk.

Feeding

How to feed your pet? In Poland, the diet of dogs consists of dry food. There are practically no supporters of natural nutrition. But the feed is different from ours in quality.

If the Russian owner decided that his dog should eat dry food, he goes to a nearby store and buys the cheapest one. It is not right. Polish Lowland Sheepdog requires high-quality feed. These include the super premium class, subspecies holistic or straight.

Life span

Polish Shepherd Dog is a long-liver. Can reach the age of 17 years. On average, her life is 13-15 years.

Where to buy a puppy

In Russia, a representative of this breed can not be bought. Lowland Sheepdogs are not listed with us. Therefore, lovers of exotic dogs will have to go on a long journey to Poland, where you can buy a puppy. Just keep in mind: Russians are not very thirsty for selling dogs. It is hardly possible to get a star dog. But you can count on the average dog.

How much is a puppy

The price for a baby varies from 500 to 800 dollars. Why so expensive? Because breeders invest round sums in the nutrition of a pregnant bitch. Yes, and puppies, when they grow up, it is necessary to feed quality food.

It is important

Representatives of the breed are not suitable for living in an apartment. These dogs, by their very nature, will cause irreparable damage to others. What is meant? Suppose a neighbor came in and didn’t have time to close the dog. Or she got out of her hiding place. A Polish shepherd dog will appreciate the situation like this: in front of me is an enemy. And attacks without warning. Neighbor does not seem enough, believe me.

Or they brought the dog out for a walk. And, as luck would have it, a lady with a chihuahua leaves the neighboring porch. A small dog without a leash is filled with a piercing bark and rushes towards you. The lowland shepherd will immediately leave him a wet place. And the owner will have to pay moral damages and buy a new chihuahua dog (unless, of course, the woman goes to court, and the authorities will award it).

Conclusion

Lowland Sheepdog is a rare breed. But before you start it, think: can you provide her with decent care.
