Pregnancy and ovarian cyst

Pregnancy is the most anticipated time of life for all women. Just starting to plan it, all of them, without exception, undergo a variety of examinations in order to verify their own health or to identify existing problems. Or, on the contrary, being already in an “interesting” position, the expectant mother begins to feverishly take all the prescribed tests, or those that are not assigned.

In some cases, the diagnosis is “a cyst during pregnancy.” Initially, it is perceived as a sentence to your health and to an unborn baby. And in the case of pregnancy planning , questions about the possibility of becoming pregnant and having a healthy baby begin to torment.

Just want to note that worry ahead of time is not worth it. First you need to figure out what kind of disease and how to deal with it?

Ovarian cyst - the disease is completely treatable, although quite common. It is an accumulation of fluid (or other contents) in the thickness or on the surface of the ovary. Depending on its location, the effect of the disease on the woman’s body changes, as well as the effect on the fetus developing in the womb.

A cyst during pregnancy also occurs in many women. There are several types, and there are even more causes. For example, this can happen as a result of inflammatory processes, changes in the hormonal background of a pregnant woman, or under the influence of certain environmental factors. In the case of cyst formation as a result of the functioning of the ovary, no consequences will be reflected in the possibility of conception, and its regression will continue for 3 months. They do not reach large sizes, but require active and continuous observation of themselves.

What to do if pregnancy and an ovarian cyst appeared simultaneously? First, you need to know that only surgery can get rid of this disease. Of course, there are exceptional cases - when the identified cyst is "functional", which means the operation, most likely, is not required. After all, this type of ovarian cyst tends to dissolve by itself. In any case, with timely treatment, you should not hesitate, so as not to provoke the transformation of the cyst into a malignant one.

Pregnancy and ovarian cysts indicate some threats to the woman in position. Initially, they can provoke premature termination of pregnancy or miscarriage. If the cyst is “untreated,” during the bearing of the fetus, it can begin to grow intensively, ovarian twisting or various ruptures are also possible. That is, the opportunity to get pregnant is approaching zero, and in some cases, as a result, infertility occurs. There is also intermittent infertility, that is - getting rid of the existing problem, you can resume the reproductive function of the body.

Pregnancy and ovarian cysts are diagnosed only by ultrasound examination, without it it will be very difficult to determine the disease. The correct diagnosis depends on the location and size of the formation, very often it can be confused with the features of internal organs or other diseases. That is why determining it “blindly” is almost impossible. When identifying a cyst, immediate surgical intervention by doctors is necessary in order to avoid many possible complications in the future.

Treatment of cysts is possible exclusively by the surgical method, as we noted above. But initially, you can try the medication prescribed by the doctor, if the education has not changed at all, you need to proceed to surgery. Pregnancy and ovarian cysts should be especially controlled and monitored by physicians. And in case of deterioration of a woman’s condition, the operation must be carried out immediately, despite her position.

Faced with a disease such as an ovarian cyst during pregnancy, you do not need to panic, but it is better to mobilize all your strength to deal with it. After all, there are much more cases when women knew the happiness of motherhood, despite a serious illness and all the difficulties associated with it, than stories with tragic outcomes.

Remember this! Strength to you and confidence in the future!
