It is no secret to anyone that it is important for a child to grow up in a complete family, and the problem is not so much in his financial support, but in his emotional state. That is, one parent is not enough to ensure that the child feels comfortable and grows full in all respects. And if mothers in our country have long been given special attention, then fathers in many cases remained behind the scenes. So, in Russia everyone knows that the celebration of Mother’s Day falls on the last Sunday
November, but when Father’s Day and whether such exists at all, very few knew and know. But to be a good father is a great responsibility and hard work, which deserves respect.
The roots of Father's Day go back to 1910. It was then that Mrs. Dodd, who lived in the city of Spokane (USA), proposed to celebrate this holiday. Thus, she wanted to express gratitude to her dad, who raised her and five other children alone, as well as support other good fathers. In the USA, until 1966, not everyone knew when Father's Day was; however, that year it was recognized nationwide. They celebrated and celebrate it on the third Sunday of June. American authorities are supporting low-income fathers raising children alone on this day.
Since 1966, they have gradually begun to learn about this holiday in other countries of the world. Today, when Father’s Day is known to almost all citizens whose birthplace is Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Georgia, Venezuela, India, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Canada, China, Cuba, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey, Chile, Finland, France, South Africa, Switzerland, South Korea and many other countries. True, in different countries on different days they celebrate Father's Day. The celebration date in Italy, for example, falls on March 19, Poland celebrates Father's Day on June 23, Australia on the first Sunday of September, Georgia on March 3, Sweden on the second Sunday of November, Brazil on the second Sunday of August.
In Russia, this holiday has not yet been officially recognized, but most citizens know when Father's Day is. Moreover, in some regions of the country on the third Sunday of June it is actively celebrated. It all began in 2003, when the club of the city of Novosibirsk, “Native Community”, proposed to organize a holiday that would remind of the role of the family and the values that should be laid in it. Over time, other regions joined the Novosibirsk region: Volgograd, Kursk, Lipetsk, Ulyanovsk regions, Dimitrovgrad, Kurchatov, Perm. And since 2011, Father's Day began to be celebrated in the cultural capital of Russia - St. Petersburg.
In 2008, an article with the headline: “V. Putin promised to "think" over the introduction of the "Father's Day in Russia." Today, many deputies advocate the introduction of this holiday in the country, citing the fact that fathers play a huge role in raising a child. Therefore, it is possible that in the near future another official holiday will appear in the Russian Federation - Father's Day, which will remind us that for a full-fledged upbringing, the child needs both mother and father to the same extent.
