Muslin - high quality fabric

Muslin is the name for lightweight cotton, less commonly silk or wool, common in the Middle East. This name the material received in honor of the city of Mosul, located in Iraq. Muslin - a fabric whose photo you can see below - began to gain popularity at the end of the 18th century, when it entered the European market with trade caravans. This material is made with the help of bleaching and soft processing of calico, high-twist silk and tightly twisted woolen threads. Thin dresses, shorts, shirts and t-shirts are mainly produced from it. Muslin (fabric) is most common in countries with a hot climate. It has high breathability and prevents direct sunlight from entering human skin. There are three variations of this fabric.

Unlike the previous one, this fiber has a loose structure. Because woolen muslin is a fabric made from tightly twisted fleecy threads. Such material is the rarest of the three species. Warm clothes are made from it, such as sweaters, hats, shawls and much more. This fabric, like other types of muslin, is easy to process and has good strength and durability.

Wool Care

Wash things from this type of muslin by hand, in cold water, using special emollients. If these conditions are met, then the clothes will retain their color and will not change their natural shape. Drying things from this type of muslin is necessary in a horizontal position in order to avoid their deformation. It is best to iron woolen clothes with a steamer, otherwise the fibers of the fabric will shine.

lightweight cotton

Cotton material

This is a lightweight cotton fabric that is made from calico by processing and bleaching it. This type of material is the most common of all three described above. It has the best properties and has a pale white tint, and is also easy to paint. Cotton muslin - the fabric is very durable. Sheets and clothes are made from it. In countries such as Iraq and India, a special uniform is made from this material for workers in large enterprises. Clothing made from such a fabric is comfortable, beautiful and durable.

Cotton Muslin Care

In order for clothing made of such material to serve you for a long time, you need to properly care for it. It is necessary to wash white and colored things separately, at a water temperature of no higher than 40 degrees, since the dyed fabric has the property of shedding. In this case, it is recommended to use mild detergents and powders specially designed for such materials. Drying things from cotton muslin should be straightened, away from a source of heat and light. Otherwise, deformation and discoloration of the fabric are possible. Ironing is best done with steam.
