The heavenly forge is often associated with the sun, while the secret Lower Forge, located at the lower level, is a prototype of the moon (there is a connection with werewolves, which are Companions).
From the history
According to various sources, the Skyrim Sky Forge existed long before the founding of the city of Whiterun. In the Songs of Return series of books, you can find information that the local elves considered this place a divine relic. When the Companion faction got to him, they immediately rushed to privatize the place for themselves, having built Yorrvaskr nearby. After that, other settlers began to flock to the place and, ultimately, a whole city appeared, which was called Whiterun.
Crafting
Working in Skyrim's Sky Forge is no different from working in other forges. In it you can forge not only a special heavenly steel, but also any other standard item. In order to open additional crafting options, you must complete the quest "Last Debt" and become the leader of the Companions.

Complete Skyforge is a useful mod for Skyrim at the Sky Forge, which is useful to all experienced players. With it, you can turn the forge into a fully equipped and convenient workshop, where everything you need will be standing. The modification adds a tanning machine, a large chest in which you can store materials, a smelter and a workbench.
