A dog accompanies a person for more than one hundred years. The efforts of breeders have created a great many different breeds that differ in body structure, color, coat length, temperament and purpose. Some are huge, others can be carried in your pocket. But there is another species - outbred dogs, or the so-called curs. They do not have a pedigree or documents, but they know how to love, be faithful and faithfully serve the owner no worse than the titled relatives.
Who are the curs
This is the most numerous detachment, the representatives of which are called “complex polyhybrid” by representatives, and people call them simply curs. Pedigree dogs have been bred for decades, collecting the best qualities in each offspring. For some, instinct is paramount, for others, strength and endurance. Any puppy from a thoroughbred dog is predictable - it is always known in advance what will grow out of it. For example, in spaniels, only a spaniel can be born, and not some other breed.
Pooch puppies are the result of free mating, so neither appearance nor character traits are fixed at the genetic level. A charming and intelligent dog can grow out of a small fluffy lump, although it is also possible that it will not live up to expectations either with its external qualities or with its mind. This, however, happens very rarely. Most owners of mongrels will not exchange their pet for any, even the most beautiful thoroughbred, dog. It is very difficult to classify curs, they are so diverse.
Mestizo
This is another view of a large squad called the Outbred Dog. They are a mixture of different breeds, and possibly in several generations. Often it happens randomly, but sometimes it is planned. Having received all the best from their parents, mestizos are distinguished by excellent health. They usually have no genetic diseases. But the character is not always perfect. It is difficult to predict what traits a puppy will inherit from its parents. Small mongrel dogs often show aggression towards children and animals. Large mestizos can cause difficulties in management and training.
Nevertheless, these dogs are in demand among people who cannot afford the purchase of a thoroughbred puppy for financial reasons. The price of mestizos is much lower, and sometimes a non-purebred puppy can be obtained as a gift. Recently, a mixed breed Labrador retrieved from crossbreeding with a poodle has become very popular. It was specially developed and even got its own name - Labradoodle. This is a great guide, able to work even with people with disabilities who have special difficulties. Labradoodle is suitable not only for people with disabilities, but also for those who are allergic to animal hair. These dogs are wonderful nannies, so families with children are happy to take them.
Labrador mestizo, obtained by crossing a dog of this breed with a German shepherd, a husky, a sharpei, is not uncommon today. Having inherited the best qualities, these dogs also have a very unusual appearance.
Outbred dog character
Rare breeds of dogs are as sociable and playful as mongrels. Zoopsychologists claim that the latter have virtually no aggression towards their brethren. An outbred dog is a stranger with a great deal of distrust. Sometimes she can show some tension in relation to children, but this does not mean at all that the mongrel is more dangerous than thoroughbred dogs. In terms of aggressiveness, it is significantly inferior to German and Caucasian shepherd dogs, Rottweilers and black terriers.
Worker qualities and training
The pedigree of a dog undoubtedly has a positive effect on learning ability. A purebred shepherd, boxer or schnauzer learn new commands much faster than a purebred dog. But, despite this, most owners of mongrels are quite happy with the behavior of their pets at the training site. These dogs are well trained, and also well learn the rules and norms of behavior.
It is possible that in most cases the mongrels are inferior to the thoroughbred brethren in some working qualities, such as a sharp scent, discipline, etc. But it is not uncommon when the mongrel shows itself perfectly as a service dog. She can be a reliable guard or watchman, in no way inferior to a thoroughbred dog.
Health
In health matters, mongrels have significant advantages over purebred dogs. They are less susceptible to a number of diseases characteristic of a particular breed. Their immunity is more stable. A purebred dog can easily tolerate temperature extremes and adverse weather conditions. In the conditions of the street, where there is a hard screening and the strongest survive, the mongrels have sufficient good health.
Advantages of mutts
People who want to make a reliable friend and companion for themselves will like mongrels, and in some ways they even surpass purebred dogs:
- They rarely suffer from hereditary diseases. Pooch puppies born on the street survive almost everything.
- Mongrels respond well to training. They lack a built-in pattern with fixed instincts, as in purebred dogs.
- Outbred dogs are distinguished by their stamina and unpretentiousness in food.
- They are unique - it is difficult to find two identical mutts.
- The devotion of these dogs to their master knows no bounds. Until the last days, they will adore him, expressing a huge sense of love and affection.
- In the role of watchman or guard, the mongrel is in no way inferior to purebred dogs.
Of course, in turn, each individual dog has its own specific advantages and disadvantages.
Outbred Dog Clubs
Today, more and more organizations and clubs are appearing that help owners of outbred dogs to properly raise their pet. Specialists conduct general courses in training, obedience, and watch and track work. An excellent opportunity to show your unique pet to the public is an exhibition of purebred dogs, which has become a familiar event in both large and small cities of our country.
It does not really matter what breed the dog has when you see his devoted look and readiness to carry out any command. Bad and good dogs, like people, are found, no matter what titles and titles their ancestors have.
