Does a woman need postpartum pads?

A woman must take care of herself. Especially for their hygiene. Her body is designed so that if you do not follow basic rules and do not maintain cleanliness in the genital area, the lady dooms herself to a lot of problems. And it's not just about the appearance of an unpleasant smell or itching. The consequences can be associated with a violation of the microflora of the pelvic organs, inflammatory processes and serious diseases.

It should be noted that the appearance of disposable panty liners on sale greatly facilitated women's personal care. These sanitary napkins are completely imperceptible and guarantee complete protection against leakage, infection and unpleasant odors.

Speaking about these hygiene products, you should focus on the varieties. There are postpartum pads, daily, designed for use on critical days. All of them fulfill the role strictly assigned to them and differ in their ability to absorb a certain amount of liquid. For example, daily pads are very convenient to use everyday, but not on critical days. They are not able to hold menstrual flow.

I would like to draw your attention to the postpartum pads. These hygiene products have appeared in pharmacies recently. But already many ladies managed to appreciate them.

A pregnant and recently given birth woman does not have her period at all. But immediately after the birth of a baby, she appears lochia - bloody uterine discharge. They are plentiful and do not last several days, but about a month. And postpartum pads for a woman are simply necessary.

More recently, maternity hospitals prohibited the use of disposable hygiene products. What then to use? Diapers were given out. Moreover, they were not disposable or personal (which is especially unpleasant). They were first issued, and after use they were taken back. They were washed directly in the hospital by nurses in common boilers, after which they were boiled and disinfected. Probably, many mothers who have long raised their children and acquired grandchildren remember these incomprehensible colors scary diapers designed for women in labor to absorb the suckers.

Today, doctors themselves advise taking pads for women in labor with them in the hospital. The woman who has given birth can now feel both comfortable and civilized.

What is the difference between postpartum pads and conventional ones? Firstly, they are larger. In the early days of Lochia are very plentiful. It is necessary to change the hygiene product often, literally every two hours, and (in the first few days) necessarily after going to the toilet.

Secondly, postpartum pads are sterile. The fact is that after childbirth, female organs are open to infection. It is enough to get to the smallest pathogen, and a serious inflammatory process will begin. Uterine secretions are an excellent medium for the reproduction of parasites. It is important to regularly wash thoroughly with soap and water after childbirth, wipe off and blot the perineum with a clean cloth. In the early days, it is recommended to change the gaskets as often as possible.

Thirdly, postpartum pads are comfortable and do not contribute to diaper rash. If the woman in labor has seams, then the use will not affect them. They do not have a rubber synthetic base, do not rub, carefully treat the skin in the perineum.

Lochia are plentiful about 48 hours after delivery, after their number fades. As soon as there is less discharge, you can start using conventional sanitary pads. Those who like to use tampons, I want to warn. They can’t keep the lochia in any way, but they can do much harm. It is important that the uterus is soon cleansed and all fluid comes out of it. Tampons delay this process, absorbing only part of the discharge. And this can lead to infections.

In general, if you are going to give birth to a baby in the near future, then take postpartum pads with you to the maternity hospital. A couple of packages will come in handy!
