Pit bull dog - a reliable defender and a true friend

At first glance, the American pit bull terrier gives the impression of a strong, freedom-loving and indefatigable creature. These dogs owe their fighting and strong-willed qualities to their ancestors - the Staffordshire Terrier and the Bulldog.

Pit bulls have a strong physique with well-developed muscles, the weight of an individual can reach a quarter centner, and the height at the withers is 50 centimeters. The body is usually a little longer than the body, but females may have a longer body. Distinctive features of this breed are a wide neck, turning into a muscular deep chest, a muzzle with powerful jaws and wide cheekbones. The color of the dog can be almost anything, the hair is short, shiny, closely adjacent to the body.

Contrary to popular belief, a pit bull dog poses a serious danger rather for its fellow dogs, but it treats a person friendly and respectful. Since these animals were initially bred mainly for participation in dog fights, it took a lot of time to make their temper less aggressive.

Today, the pit bull dog is an excellent hunter, guard, shepherd, protector and just a friend. Active, mobile and hardy dogs take prizes in competitions. And recently, this breed is increasingly used as service dogs.

Dogs are naturally endowed with developed intelligence, interpersonal skills, intelligence, incredible liveliness and a sense of responsibility. Educated representatives of this breed get along well with children, are quite adequate to outsiders, if they, of course, do not show cruelty and aggression. A pit bull dog has an excellent instinct, it recognizes a hostile person immediately and can without further hesitation teach a lesson to an attacker. Dogs of this breed are very loyal to the loving owner, try to earn attention in every way and please him.

The American pit bull terrier needs constant physical activity, many hours of walks in the fresh air. Imprisonment in a city apartment, as well as a chain leash, can lead an animal to a state of bitterness.

Pit bull education

This breed of dog just needs the right education and training, since fighting roots and natural instincts can still make themselves felt. Pit bulls are recommended only for experienced dog breeders, because dogs require constant monitoring and professional handling. When training these dogs, in no case should you resort to aggression, otherwise wayward and proud creatures can repay with the same coin. From overly affectionate disposition of the animal can also become bad.

Raising a pit bull requires consistency, assertiveness, and moderate rigor. The owner must calmly and confidently demand the execution of all commands from the pet. With the right method of training, the dog will form an adequate, calm and peaceful character.

Care and Feeding

The American pit bull terrier does not require special attention. It is enough to bathe it once every six months and comb out the hair from time to time. You should always monitor the cleanliness of the eyes and ears, wiping them with a cotton swab slightly moistened with warm boiled water. Claws should be periodically trimmed with a special tool (claw-nail).

Puppies are fed up to three months 5 times a day, up to 6 months - 4, up to 12 - 3, and after the first year of life, the dog should be fed only 2 times a day.

To maintain good health and excellent physical shape, the diet of a pit bull must be rich in protein in the first place. Therefore, puppies and adults should be fed dairy products, raw beef, boiled chicken or pork. Gradually, various cereals and dry food can be included in the pet's diet, vegetables, fruits and eggs can be added.
