There are many professions in the world, but not everyone has their own professional holiday. Knitters, weavers, tailors, fashion designers, furriers, furniture collectors have their solemn date - Light Industry Day. It has existed for over 30 years and is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of the first summer month.
What is light industry
The industry is engaged in the manufacture of consumer goods from various types of raw materials. It includes several sub-sectors:
- Sewing: fur, haberdashery, shoe.
- Textile: silk, cotton, knitted, linen.
The enterprises also manufacture industrial and technical products for the food, chemical, aviation, furniture, and automotive industries. The peculiarity lies in the quick return on investment, high production mobility and the ability to quickly change the range of products.
Light Industry Day: History
Factory industry arose in the 18th century. The impetus for technological progress was complex machines and devices: spinning machine, weaving machine. It was a transitional stage from manual labor to machine.
In the 19th century, there was an intensive growth of many enterprises. This was due to the fact that capitalist factories appeared that used the labor of hired workers, rather than serfs. Towards the end of the century, they determined the industrial development of Russia.
Light industry day was not celebrated in those days. The main enterprises were located in the centers of handicrafts (tailoring, weaving, lace). The standard of living of the employees was very low, since there was a lack of machinery and a poor raw material base in production. The situation was aggravated by the economic crisis.
Only in the 20s of the 20th century began the establishment of the knitwear, clothing, footwear industry. The construction of new cotton, silk-weaving, silk-winding factories began. After the war, enterprises quickly recovered and earned with renewed vigor. And in 1980 they approve Light Industry Day. It is as a reward for people for their continuous work, as a memory of our history.
Industry today
Today, the industry is of great importance - to put on, put on all the inhabitants of the country. There are also problems:
- low wages of employees;
- operation of obsolete equipment;
- the appearance of goods illegally imported into the country;
- lack of equity in enterprises.
Despite the difficulties, Light Industry Workers' Day is celebrated in June, on the second Sunday of the month. The nationwide fanfare does not sound at the employees, they do not hold festivals and rallies everywhere, but each company organizes the presentation of prizes and a gala performance with words of gratitude.
