Preparing for the meeting: what do you need to take with you to the hospital?

Any maternity allowance recommends preparing for childbirth already from the beginning of the third trimester. Moreover, the preparation includes not only the basics of the correct psychological attitude to the process of delivery and behavior in childbirth. A significant part of the theoretical preparation for childbirth is the description of what needs to be prepared in the hospital for the mother and the unborn baby. As a rule, the list of everything you need consists of three parts: documents, things for mom and things for the baby.

What should I bring to my mother’s hospital ?

The first and main thing that every pregnant woman should have with her, starting from the 30th week of pregnancy, are documents. There are only three mandatory documents: an identity document (this can be a passport, residence permit, military ID, etc.), a medical policy and an exchange card that is issued to every pregnant woman in the third trimester at the antenatal clinic. The need to have these three documents with you simply explains: childbirth is a process that can begin suddenly, and the expectant mother may not be at home at this time. In addition, it will be necessary to include in the package of documents a contract with the maternity hospital, a referral to a cesarean section (in case of detection of pathologies in the mother or fetus), as well as copies of the results of analyzes carried out additionally.

In addition to the documents, the expectant mother should make an additional list of what to take to the hospital. The list of necessary things is compiled in advance together with the attending physician who is observing pregnancy. Depending on what type of delivery is supposed, and a list is made, however, the general one looks like this:

  1. clothes - an extended T-shirt or a loose nightgown, in which it will be possible to give birth; disposable panties and diapers for adults; postpartum bandage; bathrobe; necessarily two pairs of socks; washable slippers; Nursing bra.
  2. hygiene products - postpartum pads, bra pads, nipple cracking cream, toothpaste and brush, soap (preferably liquid), shampoo, comb,
  3. useful things - a breast pump (it may not be needed, but it is still better to have it); charging for a mobile phone, a kettle and a set of dishes, a notebook for notes,
  4. food - a liter bottle of water without gas and a light snack, which will be needed immediately after childbirth.

What should I bring with me to the hospital for the baby?

This is the most pleasant part of the fees at the hospital. After all, throughout the pregnancy, you looked after, and, perhaps, bought cute things for your little one. However, the list of what is needed in the hospital for the baby suggests a necessary and sufficient minimum. So:

  1. clothes - for each day of stay 1 set of clothes, and therefore a minimum of 5 sets will be required; 5 hats, both with ties and without them; socks also 5 pairs; “Scratches” - cotton mittens, if necessary.
  2. hygiene products - a small package of diapers (at the last ultrasound it is worth finding out the estimated weight of the child and, focusing on him, choose the size of the diapers); 2 cotton and 2 bike diapers; plaid.
  3. medications - zelenka and hydrogen peroxide for treating the navel, nail scissors, colic, a disposable syringe and a pack of dry milk mixture (these two items may not be needed if milk comes immediately, they feed the baby with a syringe without a needle so as not to accustom them to the bottle ), diaper rash cream.

At the request of the mother herself, the list of what is needed in the hospital for the baby can be expanded. It is also worth considering the recommendations of a doctor observing a pregnant woman and the development of the fetus.

Only for them two

Both for mom and for the child there is a single list of what you need to take with you to the hospital. The list of necessary things includes the packaging of disposable diapers 60 to 90 cm in size, cotton pads and sticks, a bandage, wet wipes.

Childbirth is behind, mother and baby are ready to go home. And here you need the last item of what you need in the hospital. Of course, clothes for discharge for both the baby and mom. You don’t need to take it to the hospital in advance, but it’s worth it to cook. Mom will be able to decide for herself what to wear. But the baby should be dressed carefully. If childbirth is expected in the cold season, then the baby is dressed in three layers - cotton underwear, warm outerwear and a plaid. If the birth is coming in hot weather, then a cotton kit and a thin plaid will be enough.
