Navel during pregnancy. Causes of pain

It is no secret that pregnancy greatly alters a woman physiologically. Every day the appearance of the future mother is changing - the stomach is constantly growing. Therefore, women note that the navel during pregnancy begins to bulge and take the form of a button, especially this phenomenon becomes apparent in the second part of the term. According to doctors, a small growth in the width of the umbilical ring is his very usual behavior and there is nothing wrong with that, because after the baby is born, it will get its original shape.

Navel pain during pregnancy

Even a healthy pregnancy, which proceeds fully, can be accompanied by various pains, which include pain in the navel. It’s not worth worrying about this, but you need to know that there is such a pain in the navel that should cause concern.

When the navel hurts during pregnancy, the cause of the pain, in fact, is not easy to determine. Pain can occur due to the fact that with the growth of the abdomen, the skin is stretched. In addition, the umbilical cord goes to the gate of the liver, and after the baby is born, the umbilical cord is ligated, its vessels fall, and then turn into a ligament of the liver, which stretches during pregnancy. Due to this phenomenon, the navel also hurts during pregnancy, because due to the constant growth of the uterus, the organs are displaced and pull the ligament of the liver. Weak abdominal muscles also cause pain in the navel. And the longer the gestation period, the higher the risk of the formation of an umbilical hernia.

In such a situation, the use of creams, oils from stretch marks, a supporting brace is recommended. Also, you do not need to bring the situation to the frustration of stool and constipation and seek the advice of a surgeon.

Another feeling of discomfort and pain in the navel in a pregnant woman can be triggered by acute appendicitis or intestinal infections. But such diseases are usually accompanied by severe pain in the navel, and intestinal infections with nausea, an upset bowel, and fever. In any case, if the navel is constantly hurting during pregnancy, you should consult a doctor.

Navel during pregnancy with piercing

Most women whose navel has been pierced before pregnancy do not remove the earring while bearing a child until some point. Some talk about navel ruptures during pregnancy from having a piercing, others about stretch marks, which are then very difficult to fight. And the third of all such unpleasant situations can be avoided and after giving birth to put the navel on the earring again. It all depends on the individual characteristics of the woman’s skin. But according to doctors, the navel during pregnancy should be free from piercing. Doctors do not recommend categorically doing a puncture of the navel, already in position. The skin after a puncture in this area heals for a long time, sometimes up to four months, and if something goes wrong, suppuration of the wound may begin. Remember, medicines for pregnant women are undesirable.

We have already said that a puncture in the navel heals sometimes and for several months. During this long time, the size and shape and abdomen of a pregnant woman will constantly change, respectively, with piercings done during pregnancy, cardinal changes can be made regarding the appearance of the navel.

In the case when the piercing was done during the gestation and does not overgrow during the first trimester, it will cause pain until the end of pregnancy and for some time after it. And a woman who has pierced her navel by the ninth pregnancy may even face a rupture or an inflammatory process.

So it is better for both the expectant mother and the baby so that the navel during pregnancy remains free, and you can decorate it with a piercing after the birth of the baby.
