The birthplace of the boxer is Germany. The boxer dog breed was bred in the mid-19th century, and received official recognition in the early 20th century. In the thirties of the last century, the breed became popular outside of Germany and even Europe.
The ancestors of the boxer are fighting dogs. Until the 19th century, representatives of this breed were used to bully bulls and took part in dog battles. Breeders completely deprived the modern boxer of aggressiveness, but he is well trained in protective and guard qualities.
Today the dog is an excellent bodyguard, watchman, guide of the blind. The boxer is incredibly good-natured, cheerful, obedient, playful and very fond of children, despite his formidable appearance. This is a wonderful companion and a great option for a family dog. He gets along well with representatives of his breed and with cats, but is wary of strangers and dogs of other breeds. The boxer dog has a strong nervous system, is calm, courageous, patient, ingenuous and completely devoid of treachery and hypocrisy. The boxer remains energetic and playful to a very old age. He is sociable, loving and strongly attached to his family members.
The boxer is silent and barks only in extreme cases. It is not typical for a dog to immediately rush at the enemy - before the attack, it will growl. The training of the boxer is facilitated by his mind, but the stubbornness inherent in the representatives of the breed interferes. It is absolutely impossible to beat a boxer - he will either grow up cowardly and clogged, or become aggressive and vindictive. Raising a pet, you need to act exclusively with the help of affection, praise and delicious treats. He is perfect as the first dog.
Boxer - a medium-sized dog, short-haired, with a powerful skeleton, square configurations, well-developed relief muscles. A characteristic feature is the bite: the lower jaw protrudes forward, which provides a good grip. He has an expressive short snub-nosed muzzle with folds and a very rich facial expression. The dog's paws are strong and straight. At the withers, the boxer reaches a height of 50-60 cm, and the weight ranges from 25 to 30 kilograms. Color can be fawn, brindle and white. White spots are allowed on the chest, muzzle, abdomen and paws. It is customary for boxers to stop tails and ears, although the natural option is not contraindicated. Boxer dogs can have a lifespan of up to 12 years.
This is one of the most powerful and hardy dogs. At the same time, the boxer is harmoniously complex, graceful and noble. The dog is very mobile and requires that it be provided with constant motor activity. It’s not enough just to take out for a walk, but you need to come up with various outdoor games. The boxer needs daily training.
Boxer - a clean dog that does not require special grooming. It can be kept without problems in a city apartment. Smooth, short hair requires periodic brushing with a soft brush or a suede cloth. The dog’s thin short hair does not bother the owners, except during molting. You can regularly wipe the folds on the face, although they are not as deep as those of a bulldog.
Boxer - a dog that does not tolerate heat. Due to the short muzzle, the dog can easily get heat stroke. In the hot season, the boxer must be protected from overheating and limit its motor activity. A dog of this breed does not like cold, damp rooms, as it is prone to colds. Boxers are very sociable and cannot stand loneliness. It is unacceptable to keep them on a chain or in an aviary on the street - they must live indoors. The dog is very jumping, which should be remembered by the owners of private houses - if the fence is not high enough, it will easily jump over it.
The dog is unpretentious in food. Given motor activity, the pet should be given full servings. At the same time, boxers are prone to obesity and can eat without knowing the measures. Therefore, they can not be overfed.
