Paint is one of the most popular graphics editors provided by Microsoft. Firstly, it is automatically installed along with the operating system, and secondly, it is very easy to work with it. This will not require any special skills.
At the same time, despite its apparent simplicity, this program has a large set of functions and capabilities for creating and modifying pictures and other graphic objects.
Paint Tools
In general, there is no direct question how to learn how to use the Paint program. Everything is in front of the user's eyes immediately. A convenient toolkit is located at the top of the program window and clearly shows what it is chosen for drawing.
Available to the user:
- 9 types of brushes (brush, two calligraphic brushes, spray, oil brush, pastel, marker, texture pencil, watercolor brush);
- 6 types of tools (pencil, fill with color, text, eraser, palette, scale);
- shape bar;
- the choice of the thickness of lines and shapes;
- choice of colors;
- image manipulation functions (cropping, selection, rotation, etc.).
This is not a complete list of Paint tools. How to use each of the listed tools will be discussed below.
Creating simple objects
The main tools for creating the simplest drawings in Paint are all kinds of brushes and pencils.
Pencil
This function is used if you need to draw a thin line or curve. In conjunction with this tool, color selection is used.
Brush
Similarly with pencil, brushes are designed to draw lines and other arbitrary objects. For a greater effect, you need to know how to work in Paint with brushes, what the result will be from using them.
Line
On the top panel of shapes, you can select the “Line” and use it to create both simple objects and specific drawings. Options such as line thickness and color are available here. Using the Shift key when drawing a line allows you to draw a clear line.
Complex objects and shapes
In addition to drawing and adding the simplest shapes, you need to understand Paint, and how to use forms to create complex shapes. Actually, there is nothing particularly complicated. There is a special panel “Shapes” and there are multiple objects - straight and polygons, ovals, circles, triangles. Additionally, there are very interesting shapes, such as lightning, stars, arrows, etc.
To add the selected shape to the picture, click on it with LMB and drag it to the right place in the picture.
For complex shapes, adding contour and filling is important and, of course, choosing any color.
Work with text
In addition to the fact that in this application you can show imagination and draw absolutely everything, there are also additional functions. In particular, the Paint program allows you to add text to the resulting image / scheme.
This is a very useful action, as sometimes you need to insert a comment or explanation.
In order to perform this operation, on the top panel you need to find "Tools" and there the letter "A". After clicking on this button in the desired part of the picture, you need to select the area where the text will be imprinted.
Available options for working with text:
- transparency change (if opaque is selected, the background of the text will lie on top of the image);
- font size, type, and style (bold, italics, underlined, and crossed out);
- color for text and background.
A very convenient feature, especially for those who like to create full-fledged images using the most basic means.
Actions with objects in Paint
In addition to the above functions, in Paint, direct work with the created or pasted image is also available. This applies to options such as:
- selection;
- turn;
- pruning
- deleting a certain part of the picture;
- change of size.
The "Selection" tool is used to select certain areas of the drawing, in order to edit them in the future.
By the way, the improved version of the graphics editor - Paint.NET in its parameters is more similar to programs such as Adobe Photoshop, and allows you to work with layers. However, in the simplest Paint editor there are no such functions, so you have to do with existing tools.
So, on the top panel you need to click on the arrow under the words "Select". In the menu that opens, there are the following items:
- forms of selection (direct and arbitrary);
- selection options (select all, reverse selection, delete selected, transparent selection).
To understand in Paint how to use these tools, a lot of time is not required. For example, the selection of a rectangular area will allow you to pull out a strictly defined area of the image, and an arbitrary - point to select the selected object.
To leave a certain section without selection, you need to select it and click "Invert Selection". Well, the “Transparent Selection” command will allow you to select the desired area without a background.
The Trimming tool also looks very interesting. It makes it possible to leave only the selected area, and everything else will be deleted.
Similarly, image rotation. You can rotate both the entire picture, and part of it. In addition, vertical and horizontal mirror functions are available.
Working with the Eraser tool allows you to retouch the image by erasing some elements or entire areas.
And finally, in the “Image” tab, the function of resizing both the whole image and a certain part is available. To do this, click on the “Resize” command and set the necessary parameters in the window that opens.
How to insert an image in Paint
In addition to creating your own image, Paint features allow you to edit an existing picture, photo, i.e. any graphic object.
To add a photo to the workspace, on the top panel, click on the arrow under the “Insert” inscription and select the “Insert from” option. Now you can select the desired file and start editing it.
You can also use a simple insert. This applies especially well to images on the Internet or text from documents. In this case, just click "Paste" or the key combination Ctrl + V.
Saving Files in the Paint Editor
When editing is complete, you can begin saving the result. In principle, how to use Paint preservation, anyone will figure it out. First you need to click on the icon near the “Home” panel, and then go to the item (without clicking on it) “Save As”. Another drop-down menu will open, where the user will be asked to select the desired format - jpg, png, bmp, gif, as well as “other formats”.
The desired one is selected, after which it is necessary to enter the file name and click the "Save" button. Everything, the edited image is ready for general contemplation.
Summing up, we can conclude that in appearance a simple graphics editor Microsoft Paint has enough functionality to carry out basic operations with the image. And most importantly - almost no training is required to work in it.
