How to set up a microphone in Dota 2: instructions

Communication between players is an important part of any online project, whether it is a regular chat in MMORPG or voice conversations in other games. The same applies to Dota 2. A team of 5 people must constantly talk to each other in order to plan actions and cooperate with each other. It is more convenient to do this, of course, with the help of voice, since you do not need to be distracted by typing and wasting time. Let's figure out how to set up a microphone in DotA 2.

Dota 2 customize microphone

Setting up in the operating system

Before you start using the microphone in the game, you need to make sure that the device is connected and working properly. To do this, you can use the standard Windows tools:

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Select the Large Icons view type and open the Sound section.
  3. In the Record tab, find the name of your microphone. To listen to your voice in the headphones and to verify the quality of the recording, double-click LMB.
  4. Now open the “Listen” tab and check the box next to “Listen from this device”.
  5. To configure the settings, use the "Levels" and "Advanced" tabs.

After setting up the microphone in the operating system, you can proceed to the game itself.

Game setting

To set the sound level in Dota 2, you need to start the game and go to settings. Parameters are opened by clicking on the gear icon in the upper left corner. Go to the “Sound” tab and in the right part of the window pay attention to the lower adjustment bar. You need to set the lower volume limit. Move the slider and speak into the microphone, as a result of which the volume level will be displayed on the upper bar. Adjust the necessary parameters.

Now in the "Voice" subsection you need to specify the keys that activate the microphone during the game. You can choose two buttons - separate for your group and separate for the whole team. If you play with friends, then when you press the first key, only friends will hear you, but not the whole team. When you press the second button, your whole team will hear your voice. The game also allows you to disable activation by the button. In this case, your teammates will listen to you all the time. We do not recommend using this option if you have poor recording quality or extraneous sounds so as not to annoy other players.

Conclusion

Now you know how to properly set up the microphone in Dota 2. Adjust the parameters depending on how your teammates hear you. There is no voice communication function with opponents in the game.
