Why maternity leave is necessary

Undoubtedly, pregnancy is one of the happiest periods in life: in a very short time, someone who you still do not know at all will appear, but he is inside you and is part of you. Almost all experiences and emotions are connected with this: someone wants to get acquainted with the baby quickly, and someone is a little afraid of the steadily approaching birth. But pregnancy is not only a storm of emotions and the joy of expectation, but also a significant burden on the body. Often during this period, complications of varying severity arise, especially in the first and last trimester. If at its beginning the complications are mainly functional in nature, then the last period is somewhat more dangerous. That is why maternity leave is provided.

The standard term for maternity leave is 70 days before childbirth and 70 days after them, but there may be options, for example, for multiple pregnancies, when vacation time increases to 194 days, and in the case of complicated births, up to 156. Maternity leave can be taken from 30 weeks if you are expecting one baby, and from 28 if two or more. Additionally, if necessary, or if desired, before or after childbirth, you can take regular annual leave or leave at your own expense - the employer is not entitled to refuse to provide it.

Maternity leave is needed so that at the most crucial stage of pregnancy, a woman can fully devote herself to her unborn baby. It is known that at this time she needs to observe a special regime of the day and nutrition: after all, at work it is quite difficult to eat right and on time, besides, stress and excitement cannot be avoided there, and this is already completely superfluous. Also, a pregnant woman, even in the absence of pathologies, should spend as much time as possible in the fresh air, and, given the fact that almost no pregnancy is complete without anemia, this is doubly important, since the baby needs to receive enough oxygen, otherwise there may be developmental anomalies .

Another argument in favor of timely care on maternity leave, especially during the first pregnancy, is that it is necessary to prepare for childbirth, for which there are special courses and sports groups. This allows you to learn the correct behavior during childbirth, and also to be in great shape - this is very important for their normal course. Naturally, being at work every day, finding time for this is difficult.

In addition, often the work is associated with spending a large amount of time on the legs, and this in late pregnancy is strictly contraindicated and even dangerous. In addition to the great risk of getting various diseases, for example, varicose veins of the legs, there is also a significant risk of miscarriage. If you have just such a job, then in this case it is best not only to go on maternity leave on time, but also to take advantage of the above-mentioned additional opportunities and get rid of work for the shortest possible time.

Some ladies are proud that they are so business and busy that they were not on maternity leave, but immediately left the hospital for work. This is a very irresponsible position not only in relation to oneself, but also in relation to the child, and is not at all a reason for pride. Such a woman put her health, health and life of the baby at serious risk - he could be born prematurely, and then he was left without a mother in one of the most difficult and critical life periods. In no case should one act like this - maternity leave is simply necessary. The most important thing in this period is to give the baby all the best and help him easily be born calm and healthy.

In order for you to be given maternity leave, you must provide a job certificate from the antenatal clinic about the gestational age and write a statement. As a rule, it is provided without problems if you have worked at this place for more than six months, and is paid in the same way as if you worked, only without taking into account bonuses.
