Socket 462, or socket A, supports only processors from AMD, namely: Sempron early versions, Athlon XP / MP, Athlon Thunderbird, AMD Duron. It has a ZiF connector, that is, a zero-force insert on which there are 453 unlocked contacts and nine locked. A total of 462 sockets come out. It is better to take a cooler for the processor light, not more than three hundred grams, since a larger weight of the cooler can damage the entire system. The installation of the cooler itself should also be extremely accurate, since most processors do not have a metal case designed to protect the crystal. For this reason, remove and install the cooling system with extreme caution.

ASRock K7S41GX is a motherboard the size of which corresponds to the Micro-ATX marking. It has a socket 462 socket, there is no integrated processor on the motherboard. The main producer of the BIOS program is AMI. The board has two slots for RAM, which corresponds to a two-channel stream. There are also two PS ports for connecting a keyboard and mouse. Realtek HD Audio sound adapter can support 5.1 audio channels. Data transfer is provided by a network adapter, the speed of which is up to 100 megabits per second.
The next motherboard supporting socket 462 is called MSI-K7d. Only AMD processors can run on this motherboard. This is the answer to the question which processors are suitable for socket 462. Processors suitable for socket 462 were previously described. The first example is the AMD Sempron 2400+, whose core is called Thoroughbred. This processor has only one core with a frequency of 1666 megahertz. There are also 37 million transistors that make up the core itself. The technological process is 130 nanometers, and the crystal is equal to an area of 85 square millimeters. As for energy consumption, this processor can withstand voltages up to 1.6 volts, the amount of heat generated is 62 watts. The maximum temperature should not exceed 90 degrees, otherwise technical damage can not be avoided.
The next processor is called Athlon Thunderbird, the architecture of which is almost no different from the ordinary Athlon. The processor consists of 37 million transistors located on 120 square millimeters. This processor operates at a clock speed of 750-1333 megahertz.
Another processor is AMD Duron, whose operating frequency is 1400 megahertz. The kernel is named Applebred, and it is one in the processor. 37 million transistors are located on 85 square millimeters, and the technological process is 130 nanometers. This processor is able to withstand voltages up to one and a half volts, the amount of heat generated is equal to 57 watts. The maximum allowable temperature should not exceed 85 degrees. The processor works with a 10.5x multiplier.

In the modern world, few people really use such equipment in an outdated format, but there are always rarity collectors, or just people who are interested in the history of the development of computer equipment. Despite the old production, motherboards with socket 462 were hard to find even at the time of release and peak popularity. Now it is impossible to purchase such boards in the store, only in used condition. However, even now, such motherboards cost a lot of money.
