Perhaps, now there is not a single office company where a photocopy machine is not used. This equipment is indispensable when copying any documentation. What is a xerox? This technique allows you to create a high-quality copy of a document from a paper original. But it is worth noting that this office equipment is used not only in offices. Now on the shelves there are a variety of copiers for the home.
Features of work and device
Of course, modern office equipment works much better and faster than samples of the last century. Modern Xerox is compact in size and has wide functionality.
What is a xerox? This is the machine at the top of which is a scanner. It is this element that allows you to take a sample of a paper document. A bright lamp is involved in this process. A mirror system is also used, allowing you to transfer the layout to the drum unit. Further, negative and positive charges are supplied to the drum, due to which powder from the cartridges (toner) is attracted to it. As a result, the technician transfers the image to paper.
The paper itself is fed into the device from the tray, which is located at the bottom of the copier. What is a tray, everyone knows. This is a part of Xerox used for storing and feeding A-4 standard paper to the printer. There are also trays for other formats, but they are used much less often.
Xerox Xerox has a control panel. It is located on the front of the device. The panel is often push-button, but recently the manufacturer Xerox began to produce equipment with a touch screen.
Dimensions may vary. This characteristic depends on:
- Fields of application (home or office).
- Paper size for printing and scanning.
- The presence of additional functions (Xerox MFP will always be large, as it combines several tasks).
Specifications
The quality of copying depends mainly on these characteristics. We list some of them:
- Xerox Resolution. What is permission? This is a parameter that means the number of dots decreasing by one inch. This characteristic is measured in dpi. The higher the dpi, the better the copying of the document. However, if the original document is of poor quality, you cannot increase its clarity with this option.
- Speed. This option is rather important for office devices. The higher the print speed, the more pages the printer can play in a certain amount of time.
- The number of copies per cycle. This feature, like the previous one, is important primarily for industrial printers. If you need frequent copying in large volumes, you can configure one cycle. The default value is 999 copies.
- Scaling. Each copying device has the ability to change the scale of the document. The range can be from 25 to 400 percent.
- Food. All Xeroxes and MFPs are powered through a 220 V network. On average, the device has the following characteristics: in sleep mode, Xerox consumes 50 watts of energy per hour, and during operation - up to 1.5 watts per hour.
Functional
The basic functions of the copier are now found on models of any price range. However, thanks to the latest developments in this area, modern photocopiers are equipped with additional functions. This is two-sided printing, automatic paper feeding, the ability to copy documents on both sides, setting using a computer, printing from removable storage media, auto-adjusting brightness, the ability to save copy settings, as well as auto power off or hibernation.
The most progressive solution was the opportunity to combine a photocopier, scanner and printer, calling the resulting product an MFP (multifunction device).
Difference Between Xerox, Printer, and Scanner
Often, Xerox has similar functionality with a scanner, as well as a printer. However, there are still differences. So, if a copier transfers a copy of a document or image directly to paper, then the scanner is used to translate it into digital format (Jpeg image). As for the printer, it serves to transfer data (a picture or a document) to paper. Often this technique works in tandem with a computer or laptop. Xerox does not require a computer to create a copy of the document.
