When is Court Worker's Day celebrated? To the surprise of many, the answer to this question is ambiguous. Since officially there is no such holiday, although many still celebrate Court Worker Day. Let's figure it out together, when and whom should I congratulate.
Official data
The judicial system in the Russian Federation consists of the following bodies: federal courts (Constitutional and Supreme Courts), as well as courts of the constituent entities of the federation. In each of the organs of the judicial apparatus, one can meet court employees with a variety of positions, ranging from judges to technical assistants. Each court, regardless of its activities, works exclusively on the following principles:
- The principle of justice carries the highest legal force, with the help of which the most important rules of judicial procedure are regulated.
- The principle of legality presupposes the activity of courts, which, when making decisions, rely only on the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
- The principle of justice is expressed in the impartiality of judges in making decisions.
- The principle of humanism is that the punishment for a crime cannot be aimed at causing physical suffering to a person who has committed an offense or a crime.
Officially, Court Worker’s Day in Russia does not have a red day on the calendar, however, many representatives of the law celebrate their professional holiday annually on December 5th. This date is taken for a reason. Let's go back to the last century and see what events this holiday is associated with.
Historical facts
Many servants of Themis believe that celebrating the Day of the Court Worker on December 5 is not quite right, because for the first time the date of the court decree was adopted exactly one hundred years ago, namely: March 7, 1918. It should be understood that this decree applies to courts of general jurisdiction. And the creation of the Arbitration Court took place with the participation of one of the most famous political figures - V.V. Lenin - September 21, 1922.
In order to rally all military commissars, several court decrees were developed. The very first of them - the Decree on the creation of a new Judicial System - was adopted in 1918 on November 22 according to the old calendar (Julian) or on December 5 according to the new calendar (Gregorian).
The first court decrees were reviewed by the All-Russian Central Executive Committee in 1917-1920. The principle was simple: to destroy the old courts that acted in tsarist rule and create new institutions, the activities of which would be regulated by new Soviet laws. A century has passed, and the significant date of the formation of the judicial system is still remembered, the Day of Court Workers in Russia on December 5 is celebrated annually precisely for this reason.
Who should be considered court workers
Usually, the word “court” gives rise to many associations with its most important representatives - judges. However, besides them, court employees are considered to be everyone who is at least somehow involved in the Russian judicial system. These are prosecutors, lawyers, lawyers, and secretaries who are involved in legal proceedings, as well as all technical specialists, without whom the storage of data on each case will become impossible. Each court employee is a carrier and performer of the public service of the court apparatus. On the day of the court employee, it is customary to congratulate everyone who has a law degree and works according to his qualifications in any of the courts of Russia.
Interesting Facts
In Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, the official holiday of court employees is the date December 15th. Since the judicial system of Ukraine has a place for the institution of lay judges, citizens who have experience in jury service are also equated with court employees and congratulate each other on their professional holiday.
In Russia, there is no official holiday Day of the Court Worker, however, such a proposal was made by the chairman of the Arbitration Court of Appeal. According to Galina Fedina, the appearance of this holiday will unite a somewhat fragmented system of courts.
Lawyer's day
In 2008, the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin signed a decree establishing a professional holiday - Lawyer's Day. Every year on December 3, lawyers are congratulated throughout the country. By the way, everyone who has a higher legal education belongs to lawyers.
How to congratulate the servants of Themis? Very simple: as well as representatives of other professions. Greeting card, bouquet and real chocolate are always able to bring joy to any court employee. And for lovers of elite alcohol, you can choose a good whiskey or wine. If your acquaintance does not drink alcohol, pick up good tea or coffee. You should carefully present a gift so that you are not considered a “bribe taker”.
