Four ways to quickly remove spaces in Excel

Method 1: Using the Replace Tool

If you accidentally set two spaces between words instead of one while working in a program, then without problems you can remove spaces in Excel using the Replace tool. Using it is quite simple:

1. Click on the “Home” tab.
2. On the toolbar, in its right part, click on the “Find and Select” button. Click on it.
3. In the drop-down list that appears, select "Replace".
4. A window will appear in which in the "Find" field, enter a double space. To do this, simply double-click on the appropriate key.
5. In the field "Replace with" write one space.
6. Click the Replace All button.
7. In the report window, click OK.

Method 2: remove spaces between digits

2. On the main page of the toolbar, click on the "Find and Replace" button and select the "Replace" tool.

5. Leave the "Replace with" field intact.
6. Click the Replace All button.

Method 3: delete by formatting text

It is possible that using the above instructions to remove spaces in Excel did not give any results. At the same time, the program told you that there are simply no gaps. This happens only in one case - if spaces in numbers were set by formatting. In fact, this will not affect the operation of the formulas and everything else, but for some users it is very important that all numbers are written in a row without spaces. 1. Select the area of ​​the table in the cells of which you want to remove the spaces between the numerical expressions.
2. Click on the selection with the right mouse button.
3. Select Cell Format.
4. A corresponding window will appear in which go to the "Numeric" section, located in the "Number" tab.
5. In the right part of the window, uncheck the "Separator of discharge groups" item.
6. Click OK.

After that, the window will be closed, and spaces will disappear between the numerical values. So, if the whole point was formatting, then this method will definitely help you.

Method 4: using a special function

All the above methods are ineffective if you need to remove the spaces at the beginning or end of the value in Excel. However, the FAILS function perfectly copes with this.

1. Place the cursor in the cell that is parallel to the column or row whose spaces you want to remove.
2. Open the Function Wizard window by clicking on the corresponding button next to the function line.
3. In the "Category" list, select "Text", and in the list with the list of functions, highlight "EXTRACT" and click "OK".
4. A function input window will appear. In it you need to specify the cell in which you want to remove the spaces. To do this, simply click on it with the left mouse button.
5. Click OK.

Immediately after that, the extra spaces will be removed. However, the corrected version will be in the cell where the formula was written. It's okay, just copy the cell and paste it into the desired area.
