As you know, today all sorts of services for remote data storage in the form of popular cloud storages are unusually widespread. All of them are special server resources on which users are allocated a certain amount of disk space to upload their own files and folders there or to download saved objects from them to the hard drives of their own computer, laptop or mobile device. All this seems to be very attractive, but quite often, users have to use all kinds of browsers or install additional software to access such services.
Is it possible to do without such cumbersome traditional methods and use cloud storage, which would be represented in a computer or mobile system as the most common network resource (a regular hard drive on a remote terminal)? Let's reflect on these issues, considering the problem of how to connect Yandex.Disk as a network drive.
What is Yandex.Disk?
As already probably clear, this service is the most common cloud storage, but with very unusual capabilities. The fact is that it is this service that can be used as a network resource, which will be displayed in Explorer as a mapped network drive (something like the storage like OneDrive or Google Drive can be seen). But the latter requires the installation of special software, without which direct synchronization will not work, and access will have to be done exclusively through a web browser. In the case of Yandex.Disk, the situation looks much simpler, and the service itself has a number of advantages (although there are also disadvantages, alas).
Connecting Yandex.Disk via WebDAV: advantages and disadvantages
Almost all users and experts in the field of such computer and cloud technologies call it a huge plus that they don’t need to install any additional software components on their own computer or mobile device. When using Yandex.Disk, it is also not necessary to clean the contents of the Recycle Bin, since all objects placed in it are deleted automatically (although this is more likely a minus than a plus). But here, the main disadvantages are the lack of indexing of free disk space, when you simply do not see how much space is occupied, and how much is left free. In addition, using the tools at the disposal of Windows systems (even of the latest generations), you simply won’t be able to put files with sizes of 4 GB or more on Yandex.Disk (in a sense, it resembles the difference between NTFS and FAT32 file systems , where the second has just such a limitation when working with files).

Nevertheless, the convenience of using a data storage service connected as a network HDD is obvious. Now we’ll go directly to how to connect Yandex.Disk as a network in Windows and Android. Let's start directly with Windows systems.
Before performing the steps below, initially you need to register on the official Yandex resource (just register a mailbox). In the future, the username and password specified during registration of the user account will be used to access the contents of the repository. How to connect Yandex.Disk as a network?
To do this, it will be enough for you to add the corresponding element to the network environment just by attaching a network drive. You can do this in the most ordinary “Explorer”.
