Fallout 4 is the extreme part of the popular RPG series in the post-apocalyptic world. One of the elements of the gameplay is hacking terminals, safes and robots. Since this is a role-playing game, to complete this action you need to pump a certain skill. When accessing the computer’s security system, you can hack the terminal in Fallout 4. It's about the Bulls and Cows game. According to the rules of this logical game, one side is trying to guess what the other side has guessed. When a guesser puts forward his versions about words, figures or numbers, the second player gives clues about matches. “Cows” are matches in value, and “bulls” are exact matches in value and positions. The guesser analyzes the information received and on its basis offers options until the word is guessed.
By the same principle, you can hack the terminal in Fallout 4. The player plays the guessing side, and the computer makes a certain word. However, a match is sought only for "cows" - the exact location of the letters in the word is not required to be observed.
Hacking procedure
Now consider the process of password selection for a specific gaming situation. For example, a player finds a secure computer and begins to guess the password. At one run, from 1 to 5 attempts are assigned, depending on the complexity of the hack. We find any word, for example, write and click on it. The computer will show that matches hit one character. This takes one attempt. You should look for words in which there is any of these letters in its place. We find the word would and select it. If the password is correct, then the letter W matches.
Another example of password selection from the terminal in Fallout 4. Now hacking will be a little more difficult, so there are only three attempts. We find on the screen any word - in this case, dunes. The computer says no matches were found. This means that if these letters are present in the key, then only not in their usual place. Take another random word - RIGID. Now there are similarities in one letter. We are looking for those keys on the screen in which at least one letter is located at the same position as in RIGID. We find RELAY and select it, because they match the first letter R. If it does not fit, then continue the procedure until it turns out to hack the terminal in Fallout 4. The game has one chip associated with symbols. In addition to words, on the hacking screen there are many brackets, dots, dashes, etc. You need to use the mouse cursor to find combinations hidden in any brackets - {}, [], (), <>. Skill Requirements
Since this is an RPG, not only the logic and cunning of the player himself is limited by the success of password selection. The skill and protection levels of the terminals are divided into very simple (15 points and 4 letters in the password), simple (25/6), medium (50/8), difficult (75/10) and very difficult (100/12).
The number of correct answer options and secret combinations with brackets is affected by the character's level of luck and intelligence.
